Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – August 2023

July was a great month for the channel! I uploaded two videos and it felt amazing to get back into the swing of things. I’ve made some changes to how I record and I’ve recorded a couple more videos since then. This should speed things up so that I can get videos edited and published quicker.

I’m putting the final touches on my Castles of Burgundy Unboxing Plus video. I also have another Unboxing video recorded and I’ve started editing it. I had some audio issues with it but I am hopeful it will still work.

I have my first RPG supplement planned out as well. It will require a little more planning as it’s a PDF and I need to coordinate how I will get it recorded. I wanted to already have that recorded but the technology setup is holding it up slightly.

I have a couple of unboxing videos for Button Shy Games in the pipes and I still want to test out recording an actual board game playthrough. To round out the month I also have planned a video game playthrough. I’m not sure which game I’ll play but I have many to choose from.

Fingers crossed for a busy August!

Mar and Apr’s Whimsical Adventures – 2023

And I’m back with what I was up to in March and April. March was mostly spent on vacation enjoying some hot, sunny weather. It was glorious and I enjoyed every second of it.

In March I only uploaded one video, an Unboxing video of Herbaceous Pocket Edition. What a gorgeous little game. I love the artwork and it’s a great size to take along on trips. I’d like to do a playthrough of the game. In April I uploaded a video game playthrough of Gloomhaven digital. I tried for a short playthrough and didn’t succeed so I ended up splitting the video in half. Both of those videos are live on the channel. Behind the scenes I worked on editing the Under Falling Skies Unboxing video but it was sporadic at best.

Game wise I was able to get a few different online games in. I played a couple games of Earth published by Inside Up Games.  It has beautiful pictures on the cards and it is pretty to see your player area, or island as it’s called in the game, get built up. There were a few games of The Castles of Burgundy. What can I say, it’s a classic and always fun to play. I also played 2 games of La Granja and a game of Carnegie. A nice variety of games to keep my brain occupied.

Other than that, I watched the Dungeons & Dragon’s movie, Honor Among Thieves. I thought it was fun and enjoyed it quite a lot. I also watched some YouTube videos on roleplaying games. I watched the Dungeon Dudes Dungeons of Drakkenheim series and Dimension 20s Fantasy High series. I’m getting pretty heavily into RPG stuff so keep an eye out for future videos having to do with the world of roleplaying games.

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – July 2023

My momentum in May was completely thrown out the window after my blog post about what was upcoming. We ended up in a minor car accident a couple days after posting and while everyone involved was fine, it definitely dampened my motivation. I took May and June off and am finally starting to emerge from my indifference. A shout out to Me, Myself, and Die on YouTube for getting me excited to play games again. The channel is actually geared towards solo RPG play but getting involved with solo RPG last month has definitely helped me out of a funk.

Having resolved some laptop and program issues, I am feeling positive for the upcoming month. I need to record some new audio for Under Falling Skies and want to finalize that so I can really get down to the nitty gritty with editing the video together.

On the backlog is still an unboxing and possibly playthrough of Numbsters, a playthrough of a print-and-play game, and newly added is a solo RPG playthrough. I’m very excited with RPG the past few months and want to add some videos on it to my channel.

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – May 2023

Another month and another Upcoming blog post. This time I’m not sure what will be published this month. I will begin editing a new Unboxing video but I haven’t decided which one yet. I am also continuing work on Under Falling Skies, I have not worked on it since last month. I updated my laptop yesterday which will help make it easier to get some editing done.

Numbsters is still on deck for filming and possibly recording a playthrough of it. I will be filming at least one, possibly two, more video game playthroughs. I have a new setup in the room for it which makes it more comfortable for playing and easier to get it recorded.  I need to focus on some Unboxing videos though.

I’ve also been kicking around an idea to do a playthrough of a print-and-play game. I have a few to choose from and need to make some time to learn them and figure out a setup for recording. Now that spring finally arrived (fingers crossed), I’m hopeful the extra sunlight will kick me out of my hibernation mode.

Board Game, Recap

Jan and Feb’s Whimsical Adventures – 2023

Am I late with this post? Absolutely. I was going to skip it completely but I like writing down what I’ve done. It’s helps me gauge how lazy I have been or haven’t been. It’s also fun to read later on and see what I was up to at the time.

I mainly played a bunch of games online, it was amazing. Mainly played on BoardGameArena. I took part in a Gaming Rules! Tournament for Carnegie. I didn’t win but I had enough points to move on to the 2nd round.  I played a couple solo games of La Granja and A Feast for Odin. The first time I’ve actually played either game. I then set up a multiplayer game of La Granja. I didn’t win but learned a lot and it was fun to see how gameplay changes when you play against other people. I also played some games of The Castles of Burgundy. A classic, I really like playing it. I also learned and played a solo game of Ultimate Railroads. Unfortunately, the BGA adaptation doesn’t have the AI player but it was still good to see how the actions fit together and seeing how your strategy can change the game. I also learned and played Madeira and Clans of Caledonia. All in all, I played 8 different games for a total of 29 plays for January and February and had a blast!

For my channel, I uploaded one Unboxing video for The Phantom: The Card Game. I’m starting to get through some of my oldest received games. It’s embarrassing to see how long I’ve had some of these games and haven’t played them yet! But baby steps, first unboxing, then playing. I also spent time editing and filming some videos.

A co-worker told me about a tv show on Netflix called ‘History of Swear Words’ hosted by Nicholas Cage.  How can you not love Nicholas Cage? He doesn’t take himself too seriously and he does what the heck he wants.  Love it.

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – April 2023

Welcome to April! We’ve been teased with some warmer, sunny weather the past week and I am ready for summer!  Vacation was great. I was able to relax and re-set, it was just what I needed.

I recorded a video game playthrough of Gloomhaven digital and will be editing it soon to get it ready for publishing. Issues with my laptop forced me to change up what game I played but it worked out well in the end.

I bought a cute-looking game, Numbsters, from Button Shy and might be bumping that one up the list. I still need to film the unboxing but am planning an Unboxing Plus video for that. I’ve kicked around changing up my recording process but haven’t settled on how I want to film moving forward. Numbsters is a pretty straightforward and quick game so I might even pencil that in for a playthrough at some point.

As for items currently in the pipeline, I’m still working on the Under Falling Skies video. I also want to film another video game playthrough (or two) this month. Still trying to play catch up from my vacation last year but I feel like I’m making progress finally!

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – March 2023

March is here with cold but sunny weather. As I’m writing this, it’s a beautiful spring-like day (if you ignore the cool temperatures), with blue skies and sunshine.

I’m off on vacation soon so I’m trying to get some items done before I leave. I plan on publishing the Herbaceous video in the next day or two. It’s a game with a simple rule set and I’m considering recording an actual playthrough of the game in the future.

I’ve also recorded a few videos for the future and would like to work on them during some downtime on vacation. Better to work on that than browse social media! Have no fears though, I am definitely going to enjoy myself on vacation in the warmth and sun.

I’ve recorded the script for Under Falling Skies and have started very light editing of the video. That is slated to be the next unboxing video. I will also be recording a video game playthrough this week sometime. Since I’ll be gone for almost 2 weeks, this will help keep me on schedule with publishing.

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – February 2023

Welcome to February. Work continues on various videos. I’m definitely enjoying the flow again and I’m motivated to work on my videos. It took a while to get back to this point! Maybe this means I shouldn’t go on vacation…

I released The Phantom video and have moved onto the next one. I’m editing the Herbaceous video and it’s going really well. Such a pretty game and it’s a fun video to edit. Next up after Herbaceous will be Under Falling Skies. Script is written so I need to record it and then start the editing. I still need to record my next video game playthrough. I already have a couple lined up and need to just sit down and get them recorded.

I will be posting a blog about what I got up to last month which happily involved a lot of playing games.

Recap

Nov and Dec’s Whimsical Adventures

November was exciting because I started my journey into RPGs with a Humblewood play. I am playing a Strig owl named Koa. She is a young monk who is just starting out in the world. It was a lot of fun creating my character and thinking through my backstory. We haven’t been able to get together again for our next playthrough but hopefully we can get back into it soon.

For the channel, I was able to get the Three Sisters Unboxing Plus video uploaded. I had quite the adventure trying to open the box. I got a couple of blog posts done. I also edited and published my Tainted Grail video game playthrough part 2. I worked on and finished writing my script for my Herbaceous Pocket Edition unboxing video.

I got a new bookcase set up and was able to get a lot of board games unpacked that I didn’t have storage room for. This helped get games put away but unfortunately, I have already filled it up and am in need of another one!

On to the good stuff of gaming. I played a quick game of Galaxy Trucker on the android app and came in 2nd. Continued the campaign game and played against 3 bots. I played a 4-player game of The Castles of Burgundy on Board Game Arena (BGA). I didn’t win but I came in 2nd with 227 points. I also played a 3-player game of it on the android app. I played against 2 bots and it was a close game, but I won that one. Towards the end of December, I played a solo game of Carnegie on BGA. It was my first ever game of it and there was a lot going on, but it really helped solidify the rules for me. I did not win against Andrew the solo bot, but I gave him a good run for his money. Now that I am getting more comfortable with the BGA website and playing online, there will definitely be more games played that way. All in all, a good stretch of games over the past 2 months.

For Android apps, I continued on with My Mini Mart – still with the annoying ads. I played an oldie but goodie, Candy Crush Soda. I also downloaded a new game called Cats&Soup. Not much action but adorable kitties. It looks like most of the items need to be purchased but it’s a good brain break for a few minutes. I also started playing a game called Mob Control which is fun. I have been spending most of my time playing Eatventure. I love anything food related and it’s been fun leveling up in the game. No ads interrupting gameplay unless I choose to watch one to get a benefit for the game. There are in-app purchases but there is enough opportunity to earn the items that you don’t need to purchase them. It’s one of those idle games where you continue to earn money while you’re not playing it and it’s actually a lot of fun.

On a random note, I got into nail stamping! It was pretty interesting and worked fairly well.  I didn’t have the correct nail polish remover so the nail plates that have the impressions on didn’t get as clean as they needed to be. I will try again though because it was pretty fun. I got a plate that has a bunch of cute cat images and cat sayings on it.

For the holidays I ate a lot of delicious food and had fun both giving and receiving presents. I received some board games and some RPG-related items. I received the Turing Machine board game which I am very excited to play! It looks right up my alley. I also want to get into some solo RPGs including DND. To get me started I received some dice and some dry-erase map boards. Another hobby to add to my huge list!

It was a busy couple of months, but I didn’t produce as much channel content as I wanted. I hope to change that going forward. Thanks for reading!

Sneak Peek into What’s Upcoming – January

And Time Marches On!

I am back on track – mostly. The holidays were busy and I’m feeling that letdown with coming off the holidays.

I am working on a couple videos and plan to release The Phantom Unboxing this month. I also have planned out some time to record another video game playthrough but have yet to decide what that video game will be.

I’ll be posting about what I’ve gotten up to the past couple of months which hasn’t been much channel wise or game wise. I will continue to work on more unboxing videos and already have a good start on the next two videos after The Phantom.
